Hi Team,
I have installed server 2012 RTM on my machine. And I have disabled UAC option on control panel but still I do not have full rights on all files and folders on the server machine. Ex: I am not able to reset the IIS from normal cmd and also not able to access the shared folder.. Access deined error.... I have local admin acces & domain admin acess on the server... How to overcome this issue?
Thank You,
Dear All,
I had read some information about the upgrade existing certificate to MCSA Windows Server 2012.
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/cert-windows-server-2008-MCSA.aspx
Now I have MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator. (Step 1)
If I want to have the MCSA: Windows Server 2012, I just take the EXAM 417.
Is it right?

Hello,
i have a Server with two Dual Intel XEON CPU. When enable the Hyper-V role then the Server works only with one CPU. The device Manager says there are 4 CPU but the Task Manager Shows only 2. I know the both CPU are the same model, but the stepping is different. When Hyper is disabled then it works correct with the 2 Dual CPU and the Taskmanager Show 4.
Can anybody help me.
I recently did an in-place upgrade of a Dell PowerEdge 2900 from Windows 2008 R2 SP1 to Windows 2012 RC (Build 8400).
This server runs the latest BIOS available and has two dual-core CPUs installed (Xeon 5130). In Windows 2008 R2, this appeared everywhere as 4 cores, and in Windows 2012 Device Manager, it does as well:
However in task manager, msinfo32, Hyper-V manager and everywhere else in Windows it only reports a single dual-core socket:
At first, I assumed it was something fancy/NUMA related that I needed to figure out, but now I've noticed the following error in the system log, which I presume is related:
Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-Hypervisor Date: 8/8/2012 12:55:26 PM Event ID: 96 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: User: SYSTEM Computer: HyperV.demolab.local Description: Hypervisor processor startup failed (APIC ID 0x6, status 0x1035). Further processors in the system were not started. Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-Hypervisor" Guid="{52FC89F8-995E-434C-A91E-199986449890}" /> <EventID>96</EventID> <Version>0</Version> <Level>2</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Opcode>0</Opcode> <Keywords>0x8000000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2012-08-08T16:55:26.932029300Z" /> <EventRecordID>125967</EventRecordID> <Correlation /> <Execution ProcessID="4" ThreadID="8" /> <Channel>System</Channel> <Computer>HyperV.demolab.local</Computer> <Security UserID="S-1-5-18" /> </System> <EventData> <Data Name="CPU">0x6</Data> <Data Name="ErrorCode">0x1035</Data> </EventData> </Event> |
Is this an RC bug? I'll do a fresh install with RTM when it comes around, but I'd like to get this figured out before then.
BTW, I've made no changes to the BIOS between 2008 R2 and now (e.g. VT, DEP, etc). The Hyper-V role was installed prior to the upgrade, and other than this, all of my VMs run as expected.

Hi ,
Looking for migration\upgrade path from windows 2008 R2 based VDI to Server 2012 VDI.
What are the things that need to be taken care during the process.
Regards,
I've run into the problem.
Adobe Reader X fails to start when installed on Windows Server 2012 with Remote Desktop Services installed.
Adobe throws a message that internal error occurred and then closes promt screen.
Adobe Reader X installed on 2012 without RDS installed works fine.
Can any one confirm this behavior?
Hello,
I am trying out a Hyper-V cluster in my lab using SMB 3.0. My current infrastructure looks like this:
hvhost1 NIC 1 - Network IP: 192.168.10.181 NIC 2 - Storage IP: 192.168.100.181 hvhos2 NIC 1 - Network IP: 192.168.10.182 NIC 2 - Storage IP: 192.168.100.182 fshost1 NIC 1 - Network IP: 192.168.10.186 NIC 2 - Storage IP: 192.168.100.186
Contrained delegation is setup on both HV Hosts for cifs\FSHost1.
I am able to successfully run VMs on both HV hosts while path to FSHost1 is set to either, \\fshost1\<share>\<vhd> or \\192.168.10.186\<share>\<vhd>. However, I am unable to force the SMB connection through my storage network using path, \\192.168.100.186\<share>\<vhd>. I receive the following error:

Is this possible, and how might I go about getting this to work?
I have been reading alot of the messages here, including to adding 2 SSD drives out of the 8 allowed for parity as journals, and that seems to help. I want to know what the current opinion is, as i am going to rebuild my lab this weekend in RTM, and I want to see what has worked best for everyone. If I have to, I may run both parity for my data shares, and raid 10 for my VM's.
I myself have tested storage spaces on an old netapp ds14mk2 shelf with 300gb FC drivers hooked up, with a 2GB FC connection to the server. Using storage spaces, i created 4 SS Mirrored disks, then striped them in disk managment to create a software raid 10 array. I got about 90 MB writes in ATTO at 128 line, and around 190 reads as well. Not sure what to think there, even though FC disks are older, i think they can do better then that. I had to enable caching on all of the physical disks, as well as the storage space disks in device manager.
Hi,
As I saw in several slides from Microsoft, It would be possible to divide a 10GbE NIC into 3 'virtual' NICS
ex: 1 for Livemigration, 1 for Management, 1 for CSV
I cannot find any documentation on how to create them.
Some are being created via the virtual Switch, but would it be possible without using hyper-V ( 1 have 1 NIC for VSW, and 1 NIC that needs to be divided into 3)
Can somebody please help me on how to create them.
more information can be foundh here: http://www.aidanfinn.com/?p=11787
In older Windows servers it was possible to set 'IP Routing Enable', to move network traffic between NIC cards.
How to configure simple routing in Windows Server 2012?
Ive install windows server 2012 made a DC with the domain markcoker.local, then on another system install windows server 2008 R2 enterprise added DC as DNS server. Now there is only one NIC and as you can see below, ipv4 DNS is set correctly then ive tested
with nslookup. it doesnt find anything unless i set the server then it works. so i try to ping a domain set on the DNS 100.markcoker.local (which was found in nslookup) but doesnt find it?? so its like its not setting it as the dns server, ipconfig reports
the same information as the network connection details below.
any know whats happening or has some advice or hints?
Is there anywhere list of hp printers, compatible with Server 2012? I could not find one at hp.com.
Or has anybody experience with printers under Server 2012?
I've tested 2 models: HP LJ P2055 - works normally, HP LJ P1606 can only print test page, any attempt to print simple document from notepad immediately crashes spooler.
Hi,
I have a question about NLB. Now that Windows Server 2012 supports NIC teaming out of the box, which is great! Does NLB support NIC teaming as well?

I've recently installed a 2012 Server (9200 build) into our environment and have tried setting up Server Manager to manage the 2008 R2 servers.
Due to teh .net4 requirement I've only done this on 3 servers so far however all are reporting the same error - "Online - Cannot get event data". For each of these servers I've done the following in this order: installed .net4, installed WINRM 3.0 and also the hotfix KB2682011. The Domain firewall is disabled for all servers involved and all the servers are on the same network.
I haven't seen anything in either of the 2012 or 2008 R2 event logs however if I try and refresh a 2008R2 server I get the following notification:
Events refresh failed with the following error: The WinRM client cannot process the request. Property "StartTimes" with MI type MI_UINT64A does not match the expected type from the schema: MI_DATETIMEA. Specify the correct type and retry the operation.Other
Apart from Events everything else seems to work fine. Any help would be appreciated.
Hey!
First post here.
I'm working on Remote Access in windows 2012, but having connectivity issues with a Win8 client. The client has the configuration needed to connect, but fails to connect to the DA server.
I do have an external firewall with the required ports open (except protocol 41, is this required on the external firewall?)
Here are some logs:
(I can point out right away that there is a problem with IPHTTPS)
IP Configuration (Get-NetIPConfiguration -All -Detailed)
ServerShunt : False
State : qualified
Is this a certificate or ports problem?
Cheers in advance for any kind of help!
edit:
Ports that are currently open in the GPO:
-Protocol 41 in and out
- ICMPv4 Echo request and ICMPv6 Echo request in and out
Ports that are currently open in the external firewall
- Port UDP 3544 in and out
- Port TCP 443 in and out
- *Port UDP 500
- *Port UDP 4500
* not sure if needed, but put them up anyway for testing.
Hello
I have test environment where I have 2012 server in Edge configuration. I'm using Force tunnel, Split tunnel is working solution but it is not option now because of the company policy. One interface is to internet and one interface is to internal network.
DNS64 and NAT64 are configured (automatically) to the same server, I have used Wizard to configure DA server.
I have internal networks and I have made routing entries to the internal inteface
route add 10.0.0.0 mask 255.255.255.0 internal-router-ip
, where 10.0.0.0/24 is one of the internal networks.
From the DA client, I can access services from 10.0.0.0/24 network fine so NAT64/DNS64 is working when using internal services.
But the problem is, when I try to access something that is in the Internet. By that I mean those addresses that are behind default route, which belongs to the internet interface. I can see that iphttps traffic is coming from the DA client to DA server but nothing happends and no packets are sent from internet interface towards default router.
For example, if I try to open www.google.com, nothing happends.
What is interesting, is that if I make static route towards intranet interface (for google.com), I can see the traffic (and I can get it working with some NATtin etc).
route add 74.125.143.104 mask 255.255.255.255 internal-router-ip
So, I can only get traffic working if traffic goes out from then internal interface.
Is there some configurations in DNS64 or NAT64 that prevent using the internet interface, or firewall rules?
I can't define default route to internal interface, unless I do some ugly NATting.
Any ideas what is wrong with my configuration or pointer to some documentation?

Kimmo
Good Morning,
I have an existing RDS environment where I offer both RemoteApps and VDI's through RDS WebAccess. I am extremely impressed with Server 2012's ability to support browsers other than IE when using RD Web Access. So I would like to move a couple of 2012 RD Web Access Servers into production right now to take advantage of these features and replace the 2008 R2 Web Front Ends. However in my QA environment I found that the 2012 servers are not interacting with the rest of the RDS environment which is a 2008 R2 environment. Do I need to deploy a complete RDS 2012 environment at once or can I have a mixed environment?
Thank you
